Walk-in clinic to open in Vernon

Plans are in the works to give North Okanagan residents better access to medical care.

But now a new collaboration of Vernon physicians plan to open a new walk-in clinic this spring.

Dr. Chris Cunningham says this initiative has been in the works for months, and is not related to the cutbacks of the other clinics.

Cunningham says the new clinic will only be open evenings and weekends to start, to make sure there are enough doctors to cover off all of the shifts.

“It’ll be a challenge we’ll have to face but we’re confident we can meet the needs with the doctors we have and the structure we have set up,” says Cunningham.
