MONTREAL – An 18-year-old man is in hospital in critical condition after being struck by a car in Côte-Saint-Paul early Wednesday morning.
It happened just before 2 a.m. when one of two pedestrians crossing near the Jolicoeur metro station was hit by a car heading west on de la Vérendrye Boulevard.

According to Montreal police, it appears the pedestrians were crossing against a red light.
The 30-year-old driver was also taken to hospital to be treated for shock.
The other pedestrian was uninjured.
