Search for missing man in northern Sask. gets more help

UPDATE: Body of missing man found in northern Saskatchewan

The search for Billy Taylor, 36, in northern Saskatchewan continues with additional help. A second remote operated vehicle (ROV) will assist a team in its efforts to locate the missing snowmobiler.

Taylor’s family last saw him around 6 p.m. CT on Dec. 17, 2015 leaving Fox Point on Lac La Ronge heading to the community of La Ronge, Sask. on his red 440 Polaris snowmobile. He was wearing an orange vest.

According to Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB), Taylor is an experienced hunter and trapper with exceptional outdoor survival skills.

“The family and the community have not given up hope on finding Billy Taylor,” said LLRIB chief Tammy Cook-Searson.

“We will be using submerged recovery and inspection services from Arlington, Wash. to help us with our continued efforts. The owner of the company, Mr. Craig Thorngren trained our search team from Grandmother’s Bay on the use of remote operated vehicles.”

The second ROV will help with the search from Tuesday to Jan. 21.
