Neighbours of a proposed mixed-use building near the Bedford, N.S., and Halifax border brought up their concerns at a public hearing Monday night.
Potential blocked views, and traffic problems in the area were a couple of the issues brought up by multiple neighbours.
“Developers have a right, and we want to promote development in Nova Scotia, but it’s the size and scale of development that are a concern to the community,” said Ken Brothers, who spoke at the meeting and lives next to the site.
He was one of dozens of people who attended the meeting at the Bedford-Hammonds Plains Community Centre.
According to Deputy Mayor Matt Whitman, who attended the 7 p.m. hearing, municipal staff are going to provide a report to North West Community Council that provides more details on the views that would be blocked .
“We hope that council will listen to the concerns of the community and perhaps give direction to the developer to come back with a modified plan or require conditions that will address the concerns of the community,” Brothers said.
