KELOWNA – Charges under the Wildlife Act have been laid against the operator of the closed CrocTalk business in Kelowna and his partner.
The alleged offenses of Doug Illman and Brenda Bruce include unlawful possession of live wildlife.
Illman operated the crocodile rescue for 13 years before being evicted from his home above the facility last summer.
The business struggled financially.
The animals are classified as controlled alien species and a permit is needed to keep them.
Illman’s temporary business and zoo permits had earlier expired.
The charges were laid in November with the pair making a first court appearance Monday.
