West Kelowna murder victim identified as Summerland man

WEST KELOWNA – It was earlier deemed a suspicious death. Now RCMP confirm it’s a homicide.

On the morning of January 6th, the body of 22-year-old Tura Stephen McCarty was found inside a parked vehicle in the area of Bear Creek Road, about two kilometres past Parkison Road, in West Kelowna.

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance to help determine the Summerland man’s final moments.

“The RCMP strongly believes that this was not a random attack and recognizes how crimes of this nature are disturbing to the members of the community,” says Superintendent Nick Romanchuk, head of the Kelowna Detachment in a news release. “I would like to assure the public that all the resources necessary for an investigation of this magnitude are in place and that every effort is being made to identify and apprehend the suspect as quickly as possible.”

RCMP are not revealing the cause of McCarty’s death.
