2 dead after truck plunges into Fraser River

Crews managed to pull the truck out of the water, but the two men could not be revived. Chilliwack SAR

Weather conditions are believed to have been a factor in a fatal collision in Chilliwack early Sunday morning.

A truck was travelling down an icy gravel road at around 1 a.m. and dropped six metres over an embankment and into the Fraser River in the 46000-block of Ballam Road.

Crews managed to pull the truck out of the water, but the two 18-year-old men from Chilliwack could not be revived.

The coroner is now investigating. The names of the two men haven’t been released.
