Richard Daniel Wolfe receives five-year sentence for sexual assault, assault with weapon

REGINA – A known Indian Posse gang founder has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual assault and assault with a weapon.

Richard Daniel Wolfe, 39, received three-and-a-half years for the sexual assault charge and one-and-a-half years for assault with a weapon.

He will also be placed on a sex offender registry for 20 years and has received a lifetime ban on owning firearms. He also must submit his DNA and pay a victim fine of $200 on two counts.

Back in April 2014, Wolfe turned himself in to into the Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP after a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest.

The warrant came after a woman said she was sexually assaulted by Wolfe at a house in Fort Qu’Appelle on April 6, 2014. Wolfe also beat the woman’s boyfriend with a baseball bat when the boyfriend tried to help her.

Friday’s sentence will be on top of a 19-year-sentence for convictions of attempted murder in Manitoba back in 1996.

At the time of the assault, Wolfe was on statutory release, which started in September 2010 after he had served 12 years of his sentence.

Other court recommendations on Friday were that Wolfe seek elder guidance at the federal penitentiary, that if he was transferred that he be transferred to Willow Creek Healing Lodge at Duck Lake, Sask. and that if he is allowed to participate in cultural programs at jail that they include smudging and healing circles.
