TORONTO — Police have identified a 17-year-old boy gunned down outside his home after walking his dog in the city’s east-end Monday night.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting near Victoria Park Avenue and Danforth Avenue just after 6 p.m.

Police said Joseph Petit, 17, of Toronto, was walking his German Shepherd along Dentonia Park Avenue when he returned home and met two males outside his residence.

Investigators said a struggle allegedly ensued after a brief two minute conversation and one of the males shot Petit.

The two males then reportedly fled the area in towards Victoria Park subway station.

Petit was found with a gunshot wound to the neck and was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said he died from his injuries at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.

Both of the suspects were described as wearing hooded sweatshirts but no further descriptions were made available.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area in the evening.
