WINNIPEG – Police had a busy festive checkstop season.
Officers arrested 56 impaired drivers during their Christmas checkstop campaign, with 15 of the arrests coming in the last week of the program.

From the 56 arrests, 45 men were charged along with 11 women. Police said the average age of those pulled over was 32.
More than 3,000 vehicles were stopped for checks, running until January 1.
Police also said they handed out 24 72-hour suspensions and 21 drivers would not take the breathalyser test.
