MONCTON – Three homes were lost in Moncton on Sunday night after a fire tore through a two-storey building on St. George Street.
The fire started at about 11 p.m. in the building which housed three apartments, as well as a health food store Dolma Foods and sushi restaurant on the ground floor.
The Canadian Red Cross has provided help with clothing, food and somewhere to stay for a man living in one apartment.
They say the four tenants of the other two apartments are related to each other and are staying with family. They were also given help with getting clothes, food and personal-care items.
Crews believe the fire may have started in the walls, and say the fire itself was difficult to locate and fight.
Neither of the five tenants were injured in the fire.
