Car separated in half after crash in northern Sask. sends 3 to hospital

Three people have been airlifted to hospital, two are in critical condition and another is suffering serious injuries after a collision on Highway 905 entering Black Lake, Sask., 650 km north of La Ronge. According to RCMP, on Friday afternoon at approximately 2 p.m. CT they responded to a call of a head-on motor vehicle collision.

Police say it appears the driver of a small car lost control and collided with an oncoming half ton truck.

According to police, the force of the impact separated the car in half.

The male driver of the car was ejected from the vehicle. Police say medical staff who arrived on scene determined that the driver did not regain consciousness and was airlifted to hospital in Saskatoon in critical condition.

The female passenger of the car was also airlifted to hospital and is in critical condition.

The male driver of the oncoming truck experienced minor injuries, but the female passenger of the truck was also transported to hospital for serious but non life threatening injuries.

Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor.

No charges have been laid at this time, as police continue to investigate.
