EDMONTON — Thousands of Edmontonians packed Churchill Square Thursday night to ring in the new year with a bang.

The City of Edmonton hosted the 16th annual New Year’s Eve Downtown Festival. Family-oriented events took place inside City Hall including kids’ crafts, activities, magicians and live music while outside, people enjoyed music, hay rides, ice skating, fire pits and food concessions.

Of course at midnight, a massive fireworks display lit up the sky over the Edmonton Public Library building as Edmontonians cheered on the arrival of 2016.
