VERNON — Bald Eagles, American Robins and Northern Flickers are among the species spotted during the annual Christmas bird count in the Vernon area.
Despite some initial snowfall, the North Okanagan Naturalists Club members took off in the Vernon area to find out how many birds they can spot.
Luckily, the weather did cooperate and the visibility improved throughout the day.
“Even though the number of birds counted was down from last year due to the poor morning weather, we had a lot of good sightings and even managed to get shots of some of the species sighted during the count,” says Claude Rioux, a director of the club.
The final count is currently being tallied.
