Romania nightclub fire death toll rises to 63 after another man dies in hospital

BUCHAREST, Romania – Romanian authorities say a 30-year-old graphic designer has succumbed to injuries he suffered in a horrific nightclub fire in Bucharest, bringing the death toll to 63.

Raed Arafat, an emergency situations official, told The Associated Press Tuesday that Cristian Mitroi died Monday in a hospital in Britain, where he had been transferred.

On Dec. 15, photographer Roxana Boghian, 26, who had been in a critical condition, died at the Burns Hospital in Bucharest.

The fire broke out on Oct. 30 in Colectiv club when a spark ignited foam decor during a heavy-metal concert, sending panicked revelers stampeding to a single exit.

The initial death toll of 26 rose over the following days and weeks. The health ministry says 33 people are still hospitalized in Bucharest and abroad.
