Crews battled a fire in Stanley Park just west of Lost Lagoon Sunday morning.
Flames were spotted in a dense section of forest near the Lovers Walk and Tatlow Walk trails around 8 a.m. Thick plumes of smoke billowed from the area.

The flames appear to be coming from a fallen tree. Asst. Fire Chief Dan Wood said the tree was likely hundreds of years old and had been dead for “a couple of hundred years.”
Investigators are working to determine what sparked the fire, but early indications suggest it may have been human-caused.
