Days after the Edmonton Eskimos won the Grey Cup, their coach Chris Jones left for the Saskatchewan Roughriders to become president of football operations, general manager, head coach and defensive coordinator.

The domino effect of coaches leaving teams, and talk of compensation for clubs that lose coaches have come down to a major move by the CFL.

There were reports Wednesday that a memo to executives and general managers across the league stated contact between a club and coach under contract with another team is not permitted unless there is written permission from the coach’s current club or CFL Commissioner Jeffrey Orridge himself.
