CALGARY — Whether you were at home, school or work you’re bound to have spent some time this year watching online videos.

As 2015 comes to a close, it’s time to look back at which videos viewers in the Calgary area found most interesting.

5) WestJet flight attendant’s original safety demo goes viral

Airlines around the world have made many attempts to make the mandatory safety demonstration on flights more exciting, but one flight attendant with Calgary-based airline WestJet may have done it best.

There are no fancy bells or whistles, it’s just the same old demonstration complete with the easy-to-follow pamphlet and seatbelt; but her dance moves certainly adds personality to the somewhat mundane presentation.

In a cellphone video captured by Saskatchewan veterinarian Tanya Marshall, WestJet employee Michael McAdam is seen giving a cheeky and playful safety demonstration that left passengers laughing out loud.

4) Funnel cloud forms over Calgary

Calgary is no stranger to wild summer weather and on Wednesday, July 22 a funnel cloud formed over the city.

This timelapse video shows the funnel forming and disappearing in the sky. On that Wednesday, a tornado warning was issued for the City of Calgary. Environment Canada also confirmed a tornado touched down just north of Priddis at 12:53 p.m.

3) Global News anchors crack up over royal encounter

While much of their job is serious and requires composure, sometimes the lighter – perhaps more human – side of news anchors shows up when you least suspect it.

Global Edmonton’s Morning News anchors, Erin Chalmers and Shaye Ganam, had a heck of a time trying to contain their laughter after airing a story about a little girl’s encounter with one of the Queen’s guards.

Maisie Gregory, 6, was accidentally smacked in the head by a saluting soldier just moments after the child gave Queen Elizabeth II a bouquet of flowers. The royal smack left Ganam and Chalmers in stitches on the anchor desk.

2) ‘I’m a mess:’ Hailey’s mother speaks to media for first time since 2-year-old’s body recovered

Moments after charges were laid in the murder of two-year-old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette and her father, Terry Blanchette, the little girl’s mother spoke to the media.

In an emotional address, 20-year-old Cheyenne Dunbar said she had no idea why someone would want to harm her daughter.

1) Shocking case of racist cabbie abuse in Calgary caught on video

This video obtained by Global News in July shocked people across the country. It showed a passenger launching a vicious verbal and racist attack on a Calgary cab driver.

The video was recorded in 2013, but nearly two years later the cab driver was still scarred by the passenger’s actions.
