Montreal could suspend 2,400 blue collars over “wildcat strike”

MONTREAL – The City of Montreal could punish blue collar workers who walked out last week for a union meeting at the Palais des Congrès.

The city called it a wildcat strike.

According to a report in the Journal de Montréal, the punishment would be unprecedented – with 2,400 workers suspended without pay for a week, and union leaders losing two months’ pay.

Any union leader who led workers to strike could be suspended for a month.

The city is expected to make the announcement later on in the day.
