REVELSTOKE — The search for a missing sledder in the Revelstoke area appears to have ended on a tragic note.
Travis Brown, 42, was reported missing last weekend after he went sledding alone in the Boulder Mountain area.
His disappearance prompted a massive search on the ground and from the air.
UPDATE – RCMP confirmed Friday the body discovered is that of Travis Brown.
Police say the discovery was made by two sledders whose machine got stuck in deep snow.

While digging it out they found Brown’s snowmobile and then his body.
“Circumstances led to a person from Cold Lake, Alberta and a person from Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, one of their sleds had got stuck and while they were unburying their sled had noticed a partial handlebar sticking out from the snow with a helmet on it,” says RCMP Corp. Thomas Blakeney.
The circumstances leading to Brown’s death are being investigated with police saying he may have made a wrong turn on his return to the vehicle parking lot.

“He had adequate equipment, a beacon, a shovel, a backpack, water,” says Corp. Blakeney. “He was traveling with some people.”
After RCMP suspended the search Wednesday, more than 300 members of the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club scoured the Boulder Mountain area when it was re-opened to the public.
Brown’s pick-up truck was found parked at the base of the mountain.
RCMP issued a release late Thursday afternoon saying that sledders riding on Boulder Mountain found a man’s body in a rugged, remote area.
They say the body has yet to be recovered and that the identity of the male has not been confirmed.
Brown was from Alberta.
