LETHBRIDGE – One meter at a time, the Downtown BRZ and the Heart of Our City committee are spreading some holiday cheer..
The annual festive season parking meter program fired up for its ninth year.
No one likes getting parking tickets, so the Heart of Our City committee will be out and about plugging meters so shoppers aren’t dinged extra for buying their gifts downtown.
Chairman Mark Bellamy says it’s a great way to attract shoppers to the core.
“This is a good way to encourage residents to visit downtown businesses and see what it has to offer. We have heard from businesses, and those who have had their meter topped up, and they both think it’s great.”
The program is administered by the Downtown BRZ and runs until Dec 24 at a cost of $12,000 dollars, but the groups say it’s money well spent to keep shoppers coming to the core.
