EDMONTON – A 59-year-old worker died Wednesday after being hit by a bus at a jobsite near Edmonton.
A coach bus dropped off workers at the Redwater Sturgeon refinery site at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
As the bus moved forward to make a left turn a worker was hit while crossing the road and became caught underneath the bus, Occupational Health and Safety said.

The driver stopped the bus, and 911 was contacted.
The worker was taken to the University of Alberta, where he later passed away.
The refinery is run by North West Redwater Partnership.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and the loss our colleague’s family has suffered. Our focus is to provide them with the support they need at this very difficult time,” the company said in a statement.

OHS is investigating the death.
The Redwater Sturgeon refinery is 63 km northeast of Edmonton.
