Man suspected of ‘acting suspiciously’ around children in Upper Beaches

TORONTO – Police have issued a warning after a man was allegedly caught “acting suspiciously” around children at a community event in the Upper Beaches area of Toronto last week.

It is alleged the incident happened on Dec. 2 around 7 p.m. in the Kingston Road and Woodbine Avenue area.

Police said an unknown man, who was not a parent or guardian, was watching the children “intently” during a supervised arts and crafts activity.

It is alleged he engaged in suspicious behaviour while trying to interact with the children.

The accused is described as white, between 65-75 years of age, 5’4″ tall, 145-150 pounds, bald with facial hair and a long thin face.

He was wearing a dark-blue polo shirt with reflective patches on it, with dark khaki pants. His shirt was tucked into his pants and he was wearing a distinctive silver belt buckle with the letter “A” on it.

He was also wearing a large silver ring on his right hand.

Police believe he may have exhibited the same behaviour at other events involving children.
