WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Goldeyes have re-signed big slugging outfielder Reggie Abercrombie.

Abercrombie, 35, hit .318 with six home runs and 37 RBI in 47 games with the Goldeyes last season. The former major league outfielder originally joined the Goldeyes in 2014 but was re-acquired last July in a trade with the Can-Am League’s Sussex County Miners.

“We are thrilled to have Reggie return for 2016,” Goldeyes manager Rick Forney said. “Reggie is still very much a large
presence in the middle of the lineup, and we expect him to continue to provide our club with a solid veteran leadership.”

Abercrombie has played 16 seasons of professional baseball in a career that had stops in the major leagues with the Florida Marlins and Houston Astros.

He joins Casey Haerther and Josh Romanski as just the third player officially signed for the 2016 season.
