Three men are facing sexual assault and human trafficking charges after an investigation by the Regina Police Service.

Police say the investigation began on Nov. 28 when they received information that a 24-year-old woman was being held against her will. Investigators were able to contact the victim and gather more information which resulted in the arrest of three men at a downtown hotel.

The three suspects are Jonathan David Campbell, 25, from Edmonton, Abdirahman Kahin, 22, from Regina and Jama Jibril Roble, 24, from Ottawa.

All three men are charged with sexual assault with a weapon, exercising control direction or influence over the movements of a person for the purpose of exploiting them, facilitating their exploitation (human trafficking), procurement, forcible confinement and receiving financial benefit, knowing it is obtained from the commission of an offence.

Campbell is also charged with assault and breach of recognizance. Kahin’s other charges include breach of probation and sexual assault.

In addition, Roble faces charges of assault, obstructing a peace officer, breach of probation and sexual assault.

The three men made their first court appearance in Provincial Court on Monday, Nov. 30.
