WINNIPEG — The game is still days away but the party leading up to the Grey Cup has begun.
Fans from all over the country have begun to arrive in Winnipeg.
For some, it’s a chance to cheer on their team, “We are so excited about the Eskimos. Go Esks’ go. I can’t wait for the Grey Cup,” said Tracy Winnitoy from Edmonton.

However, the majority of fans don’t have a team to root however. Supporters of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and BC Lions all said being a part of the festivities leading up to the game.
Many Blue Bombers fans were also reveling in the first night of the Grey Cup Festival.
Even though the team had a tough year in the standings, long-time Bombers fan Henry Hewen said that’s no reason to miss out on the party, “It’s become tradition. It’s an awesome party, you meet people that you haven’t seen for years, it’s a great Canadian party.”
Another life-long agreed, “It does hurt but right now we’re here to focus on Grey Cup which is the best week in professional sports as far as I’m concerned,” said John Couture.
