Cables for the, “Baynes Sound Connector” usually rest on the bottom of the ocean but come towards the surface when the ferry crosses the sound.

While the ferry is running, red lights will warn other boaters not to cross the route.

B.C. Ferries says 65 cable ferries operate in Canada but is new for this area of the coast.

B.C. Ferries has produced posters so mariners can get used to the warning system before the ferry starts service early in the new year.
