Joshua Group’s charitable status revoked by CRA

SAINT JOHN – A well-known New Brunswick charity aimed at relieving child poverty in Saint John has had its charitable status revoked.

According to the Canada Revenue Agency’s website, the Joshua Group’s charitable status was revoked after the non-profit failed to file an information return.

An information return outlines a charity’s activities, revenue and expenses. It must be filled out annually and sent to the CRA within six months of the end of its fiscal period, according to the website.

For about seven years, the Joshua Group has been feeding, clothing and providing activities for children growing up in low-income households in Saint John.

The status was revoked on July 25, 2015.

According to the site, the last time the Joshua Group filed a return was at the end of 2012.
