It’s been a long time coming for Lethbridge Family Services, but the organization announced Wednesday its main site is being expanded by ten thousand square feet.
The newly-renovated buildings will be adjoined through a central courtyard and recreation area. The space, west of the current site, will provide new and more functional space for the agency.
“We’re going to expand our counseling services and we’re going to specially design the council space,” said Lethbridge Family Services Chief executive officer Sandra Mintz. “There are a lot of best-practice standards around how you want to create that type of service area…For example, separate exits from the rest of the building and a waiting room where one can’t be seen as others are walking in the building.”

The organization, which has been turning down service requests due to a lack of space, will now be able to provide education and counseling to more people.
“This is just great for us,” said Mintz. “We’re going to be able to hit the ground running now and hopefully by this time next year, we’ll have the expanded facility.”
A ceremonial “puzzle build” will be completed to commemorate the kick-off of the piece of history for Lethbridge Family Services. After completion, the puzzle will be framed and put inside the new building.
