KELOWNA–The city of Kelowna has purchased a piece of waterfront property on Lakeshore Road.

The 2.9-acre parcel is at 4010-4020 Lakeshore Road, and cost the city $12 million.

“The purchase of this waterfront property is truly a legacy for our city,” says Mayor Colin Basran. “As Kelowna continues to be an attractive place for citizens to live and a popular tourist destination, it will become increasingly important to protect valuable waterfront property to accommodate growth.”

The land is adjacent to the Bluebird Road Beach Access, across from Belmont Park.

When added to existing city owned land, it will allow for the creation of a 3.6-acre waterfront park.

The city has not determined when the park will be completed.
