City pays $78k for Blue Jays ‘Birds Nest’

TORONTO — Adding to the heartache of last month’s Blue Jays playoff loss, Toronto now faces a hefty $78,000 price tag for showing games at Nathan Phillips Square.

The “Bird’s Nest” became a popular playoff-watching hangout, attracting thousands of fans through the Jays’ playoff run that took the team within two games of the World Series.

On Tuesday, the city released a breakdown of costs for showing games in the “Birds Nest”.

Over $61,000 was paid for audio-visual equipment rentals and staffing and another security contracts cost another $6,000.
