Motorists are urged to ensure their vehicles are equipped with winter tires if heading on the Coquihalla Highway on Wednesday.
The Coquihalla Summit got eight centimeters of snow overnight and is expected to get another five centimeters on Wednesday.
Highway 97C also got snow overnight but conditions aren’t as bad. The highway near Pennask Summit got three centimetres of snow overnight.
Highway 3 near Manning Park got 17 centimetres of snow overnight but the conditions aren’t as bad on Wednesday as they are on the Coquihalla.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Coquihalla and Kootenay Pass highways because of a cold front moving across southern B.C.
It says the heaviest snow fall will occur on the Coquihalla Summit Wednesday night.
