A small school in the North Okanagan will be shutting down.
Ashton Creek Elementary School near Enderby has 33 students in two, four-grade split classrooms but the format doesn’t provide a sustainable learning environment, according to district officials.

Despite a 159-name petition demanding the school be kept open, school trustees voted to close the school August 1st because of decreasing enrolment.
Parents in favour of keeping Ashton Creek Elementary believe the school provides one-on-one learning, especially for those with learning disabilities.
Parents were not in favour of the extra travel time to get students to classes because of the closure.
Students will be bussed into Enderby beginning in September.
Enderby area trustee Chris Coers was opposed to the closure.
