CALGARY – Two more carjackings took place this past weekend in Calgary and police are searching for suspects.

It’s a concerning trend that actually started with two other carjackings earlier this week.

“Although both of these incidents may appear similar, investigators continue to determine the motive and connection if any. Earlier violent incidents during the week are also being investigated with the service wide priority to allocate necessary resources and intelligence in a coordinated manner,” said Inspector Philip Hoetger with Calgary Police.

On Tuesday afternoon, two armed men tried to steal a car in Beddington but the victim stood his ground.

Earlier in the day, a masked gunman demanded a woman’s car as she left her Skyview Ranch home, he then fled in her civic.

Two men are now in custody in connection to the Beddington crime and Global News cameras were there for the take down.

Officers arrested them at a bus stop on Beddington Boulevard, a couple of blocks away from where the attempted carjacking took place.

A suspect is still on the run following a carjacking in the city’s Northwest Friday night, which would be the third carjacking of the week.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. in the Market Mall parking lot.

Police said a woman was in her vehicle when she was approached by a man she didn’t know. He opened her driver’s side door and pointed a gun at her, ordering her out of the vehicle.

The man then fled the scene in the victim’s silver 2003 Chevrolet Venture van with licence plate BHH 5604.

Police said they believe the man was driving in tandem with a smaller four door red car, with two men inside.

The suspect is described as dark skinned with a medium build.

Police were called to the scene after a man reported that his truck was deliberately struck from behind while he was travelling north, approaching Taradale Drive.

As the man got out of his vehicle to assess the damage, the driver of a white Doge Ram 3500 also exited his vehicle. Two other occupants of the Dodge Ram stayed inside the truck.

The driver of the Ram confronted the victim, punched him in the face and grabbed him. The victim resisted and ran away. The suspect then drove away in the victim’s Ford F150, licence plate BPZ 0235, in tandem with the Dodge Ram.

The victim called police from his home in Coral Springs.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male with a European accent, approximately 5’10” tall, with a stocky build and short dark hair. He was wearing a grey hoodie and blue jeans.

‘We are getting on this as quickly as possible, we have a number of investigators working on both incidents. So if it is the start of a trend, we are going to nip it in the bud is early as possible and get the offenders in custody as quickly as we possibly can,” said Insp. Hoetger.

Police continue to investigate any connections to all the carjackings and are trying to collect more information like surveillance video, to hopefully get pictures of any suspects involved.
