Calgary man charged after fire at Ranchman’s

A Calgary man is facing charges after allegedly trying to set a crowded bar on fire.

A man was kicked out of Ranchman’s on Macleod Trail around 9 p.m. on Saturday, for causing a disturbance.

Police say the man returned hours later and allegedly poured gas on the building and doors, then lit them on fire.

Staff managed to extinguish the blaze quickly.

Police say the incident could have been worse, because there were about 700 people inside the bar at the time.

22-year-old Billy Quinn is charged with one count of arson with disregard for human life.
