4 suspects arrested after meth lab dismantled in Brampton

TORONTO – Four suspects were arrested after police dismantled a drug lab in Brampton Thursday evening.

Halton Regional Police, with help from Peel Regional Police and the Ontario Provincial Police, executed a search warrant at a home on Midsummer Drive around 6 p.m.

Once inside, investigators dressed in protective gear located five kilograms of crystal meth on the premises and the hazmat unit was also brought in to remove the items.

The street value of the drug is estimated at $250,000.

At least 10 neighbouring homes had to be evacuated during the operation but residents were allowed back in around 8 p.m.

Halton police said search warrants were also executed in York Region as well as Toronto.

The accused have been charged with several offences including production of methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine and possession of heroin.

The suspects are scheduled to appear in court Oct. 30.
