REGINA – Saskatchewan New Democrats are trying to stop passage of a bill that would redraw the provincial constituency map.
The NDP has tabled what is called a reasoned amendment to Bill 36, the Constituency Boundaries Act.
The bill would add three more politicians and change existing laws to ensure that every constituency has roughly the same number of voters – meaning people under 18 won’t be counted.

NDP Leader John Nilson says that’s not smart because those between the ages of 10 and 18 will be voting over the next decade.
The amendment allows for 20 hours to debate the bill and Nilson says that will give the public more time to talk to government.
Attorney General Don Morgan says the government gave the bill careful consideration and the NDP amendment is unlikely to change its plans.
