TORONTO – A funeral was held Saturday for a young girl hit and killed by a car in Markham Thursday.
Arisa Ahmed, 4, and her seven-year-old sister were struck by a black SUV around 2 p.m. Thursday near David Suzuki Public School, which both girls attended.

Arisa was pronounced dead in hospital, while her sister sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
A service was conducted Saturday afternoon at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto.

The driver, 39-year-oid Gowry Somasekarampillai, has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
She is set to appear in court on Nov. 26.
