The Toronto Blue Jays are down 3-1 in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) and need to somehow pull off three straight wins.
The team would have to start with a win Wednesday at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Toronto would have to follow that up with two more on the road.
It will be difficult, but it’s not impossible.
And in a twist of fate, the Jays have been on the wrong end of a three-game comeback before. Thirty years ago, the Jays were up 3-1 on the Kansas City Royals when they lost three straight, including the last two at home. The Royals went on to win the World Series.
But it’s unlikely the Jays will pull off the same feat.
Four teams, including the Royals, have made a three-game comeback in the ALCS since became a best-of-seven series in 1985. Three National League teams have done the same, including the 2012 San Francisco Giants. They went on to win the World Series.
