What do you do if you found out you won the lottery? A Ponteix, Sask. couple had just that dilemma after checking their Western 6-49 ticket from the Oct.7 draw.

“I had to scan the ticket twice,” said Romel Mendoza. “At first I said, ‘$200,000?!’ And then Esther said, ‘That’s not $200,000; it’s $2,000,000!’”

Not knowing what to do, the couple went grocery shopping and tried to continue their day.

“When we got home, Esther put the ticket in her purse and hid it under a shirt for safe-keeping,” Romel said. “It was exciting.”

The couple plan to use some of their winnings to visit their family in the Philippines.

“We will definitely plan a trip to the Philippines,” said Romel. “I haven’t been back there for five years. This helps us to go.”

They also plan to pay off their mortgage and put money away for their children’s education.
