Sheri Benson first Sask. NDP MP since 2000

SASKATOON – For the first time since 2000, a Saskatchewan NDP candidate has been elected to the House of Commons. Sheri Benson was elected in the riding of Saskatoon West.

The last NDP Member of Parliament from Saskatchewan was Lorne Nystrom. He was re-elected the riding of Regina-Fort Qu’Appelle in 2000 with 40.3 per cent of the vote before losing in 2004 to current Speaker of the House Andrew Scheer.
