#ThankYouStephenHarper: Canadians thank Harper with sincerity, sarcasm on Twitter

Stephen Harper is officially out as prime minister. Global News has declared the Liberals, led by Justin Trudeau, will form the next government of Canada and will have a majority mandate.

While the online conversation surrounding the #elxn42 hashtag shifted towards the Liberals shortly after media outlets called a Liberal government, many Canadians took to Twitter to celebrate Harper and his time as Prime Minister.

Using the hashtag #ThankYouStephenHarper, many tweeted messages thanking Harper for his contributions to Canada — from being a strong leader in tough economic times, to lowering taxes.
