“Professor Popsicle” no match for Liberals in Winnipeg South

Tamara Forlanski/Global News

WINNIPEG – Fourth-time is the charm for Liberal candidate Terry Duguid.

After three tries at a seat in Ottawa Duguid beat well-known Conservative candidate Gordon Giesbrecht in Winnipeg South.

The man often referred to as “Professor Popsicle” for his cold-weather experiments, was brought in for the Tories after Rod Bruinooge announced he would not be seeking a second term.

While Giesbrecht had name recognition, Duguid is no stranger to the political scene.

He ran for MP twice in in Kildonan, and then in the last election against Rod Bruinooge in Winnipeg South.
