Terry Sheehan has captured the riding of Sault Ste. Marie for the Liberals.
He snatched the seat from Conservative incumbent Bryan Hayes, who exits after a single term.
Hayes was combating history in Sault Ste. Marie, a riding that’s traditionally leaned left. Before Hayes won in 2011, the riding had only gone blue once before, electing a PC MP for a single term in 1984. Otherwise, the riding has alternated between Liberal and NDP since its creation in 1966.
