Defence case begins in Guy Turcotte first degree murder trial

SAINT-JÉRÔME, QUE. – The defence outlined its case Monday in the first-degree murder trial of Guy Turcotte, the Quebec cardiologist charged in the stabbing deaths of his two children.

Turcotte has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder but admitted to causing the 2009 deaths of Olivier, 5, and Anne-Sophie, 3.

The Crown wrapped up its case Friday after calling more than two dozen witnesses.

It is the second trial for Turcotte after proceedings heard in 2011 how the former cardiologist came to be charged in the deaths of his children.
