EDMONTON – A bizarre incident in the northeast end of the city led to two people being taken to hospital Sunday morning.
Police said a man was making door-to-door deliveries on Henry Avenue, near Hermitage Road, before 6 a.m. and left his car running to make a delivery.
A silver Jeep Wrangler with four males inside drove up and a youth allegedly got out of the Jeep and into the car, police said.
They believe the young man was trying to steal the vehicle.
Police said the man returned to his car and there was a short fight between him and the youth.
The Jeep then reportedly tried to drive away from the scene, striking the man, youth and car in the process.
Both individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated and taken to hospital.
The youth is in police custody. Charges have not been laid.
Police asked for the public’s help finding the 2013 silver Jeep Wrangler involved in the hit-and-run crash, which they said was stolen.
Just after 6 p.m. police confirmed the vehicle was found by officers. It was parked in the area of 41 Street and 134 Avenue.
No additional arrests were made when the Jeep was located.
The EPS Major Collision Investigation Unit continues to look into the incident.
