PLASTER ROCK, N.B. – A second arrest has been made in the alleged kidnapping of a man at gunpoint in New Brunswick.
West District RCMP say they arrested 43-year-old Gilbert Theriault in Plaster Rock Thursday afternoon.
He now faces charges of using a firearm to kidnap the victim, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, uttering a death threat, injuring the victim’s dog and extortion.
Police say the 62-year-old victim was forced to leave his home last week, then placed in the trunk of a car and driven to a dirt road about 10 kilometres away.
The arrest comes one week after the Mounties issued a Canada-wide warrant for Theriault’s arrest.
Police also arrested 37-year-old Parker Jacob Richards in Halifax last week.
