Traffic Bridge design released by the City of Saskatoon

SASKATOON – Details of what a new Traffic Bridge will look like in downtown Saskatoon have been released by the city.

“The new Traffic Bridge will be a four span arrangement, with new reinforced concrete piers constructed around the existing piers within the river,” said Dan Willems, a special projects manager for the city.

It will be slightly wider than the old bridge to accommodate traffic lanes and will have pedestrian pathways on both sides. It will also have more overhead clearance for emergency vehicles.

A report outlining the financial details of the proposal will head to council once the city reaches financial close with Graham Commuter Partners.

Officials say construction on the Traffic and Parkway bridges could start later this year if all goes according to plan and all regulatory approvals are obtained.
