Alberta premier reassuring business leaders about economic outlook

CALGARY – Alberta Premier Rachel Notley is trying to reassure business leaders as her NDP government prepares to hand down its first budget on Oct. 27.

Notley told the Calgary Chamber of Commerce that her government will do its part to help Alberta deal with the shock of low oil prices and the economic downturn.

She says the government will stabilize health and education services, help create and protect jobs and move toward doing more about climate change.

Notley also says the province is considering a new infrastructure program, mentioning long-promised projects such as a new cancer centre in Calgary and flood mitigation.
