The Federal Bureau of Investigation found $600,000 buried in the backyard of a cash transporter’s home after nearly a year of looking for the stolen money.
Ex-Loomies armoured transport employees Cesar Yanez, 37, and Esquivel Vega, 28, were supposed to be transporting $1,000,000 for Bank of America in Nov. 2014 when the two men stashed the cash in numerous locations in Fontana, Calif., including Yanez’s backyard and in a trash can.
The FBI were able to recover $85,000 during the investigation last year and another $600,000 on Wednesday after receiving a tip. The whereabouts of the remaining stolen cash is unknown.
According to CBS, Yanez has pleaded guilty to conspiracy and bank larceny charges and is serving nearly five years in jail.
Yanez’s wife, Vega, and another accomplice are awaiting trial.
